Abstract

Artificial intelligence is increasingly transforming customer experience by enabling organizations to personalize services, automate communication, analyze customer behaviour, predict preferences, and respond to requests more rapidly. Businesses across retail, banking, hospitality, healthcare, telecommunications, and digital services are using artificial intelligence through chatbots, recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, predictive analytics, voice assistants, and automated customer-support platforms. This paper examines the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing customer experience, focusing on personalization, customer service automation, recommendation systems, sentiment analysis, predictive engagement, omnichannel experiences, customer relationship management, service quality, and ethical challenges. AI can process large volumes of customer information and identify patterns that allow organizations to tailor products, services, communication, and support. Automated systems can also provide assistance outside traditional business hours and reduce response times for routine enquiries. However, excessive automation may create frustration when customers require empathy, flexibility, or human judgement. The use of customer data also raises important concerns about privacy, security, transparency, bias, and informed consent. The paper argues that the greatest value of AI in customer experience comes from combining technological efficiency with human-centred service. Organizations should use AI to augment employees and improve customer interactions rather than treating automation as a complete substitute for human contact. Responsible implementation, continuous evaluation, and clear pathways to human assistance are essential for creating trustworthy and satisfying AI-enabled customer experiences.
