The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Human Resource Management
Main Article Content
Abstract
Artificial intelligence is increasingly transforming human resource management by supporting recruitment, employee selection, workforce analytics, learning and development, performance management, employee engagement, and administrative activities. Organizations generate large amounts of employee and workforce data, creating opportunities for AI-based systems to identify patterns, automate routine processes, and support managerial decision-making. This paper examines the impact of artificial intelligence on human resource management, focusing on AI-enabled recruitment, workforce planning, employee development, performance management, engagement, retention, HR administration, decision support, and ethical challenges. AI can improve the speed and consistency of HR processes by screening applications, identifying skill requirements, recommending learning opportunities, analyzing employee feedback, and supporting workforce forecasts. It may also allow HR professionals to focus more on strategic and interpersonal responsibilities by reducing repetitive administrative tasks. However, the use of AI in HR creates significant concerns regarding privacy, algorithmic bias, transparency, employee surveillance, data security, and the potential for inappropriate automation of sensitive decisions. The paper argues that AI should augment rather than replace HR professionals and should be implemented within a human-centred governance framework. Responsible use requires high-quality data, transparent processes, fairness assessments, employee awareness, human oversight, and continuous evaluation. When appropriately integrated, artificial intelligence can improve HR efficiency and workforce decision-making while supporting a more responsive and strategically oriented human resource function.
