The Smart Digital Environment in Algerian Port Organizations: Implementation Requirements and Application Constraints-A Case Study of Skikda Port

Abstract
This study aimed to shed light on the current status of the requirements and obstacles associated with the digital transformation toward a smart digital environment in port institutions, given that such transformation constitutes a fundamental pillar. The study was based on a central research question concerning the extent to which ports are capable of adopting modern technologies in the presence of various challenges. To achieve the objectives of the study, the descriptive method was adopted, along with a simple random sample. A questionnaire was also used as the primary data-collection instrument, and the data were processed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The study reached the following conclusions:
- The Skikda Port Company works to provide the requirements necessary for implementing a smart digital environment.
- The Skikda Port Company faces obstacles that hinder the implementation of a smart digital environment at a moderate level.
