Quality of Life in Patients with Chronic Pain

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the level of quality of life among chronic pain patients and to reveal differences in quality of life according to the variables of gender and marital status.

The study relied on a descriptive approach, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life Scale, the short version, was applied to a sample of 40 male and female patients suffering from chronic pain, and the SPSS statistical package was used.

The results showed that the level of quality of life among chronic pain patients was low. The results also showed that there were no statistically significant differences in the level of quality of life attributable to the variables of gender and marital status.

The study concluded that it is necessary to adopt a comprehensive therapeutic approach, both medical, psychological and social, with the aim of improving the quality of life for chronic pain patients.
