Industrial and Chemical Applications of Ionic Liquids
Main Article Content
Abstract
The remarkable solvation capabilities, low volatility, and remarkable thermal stability of ionic liquids (ILs), a salt type, have recently garnered a lot of interest. The various useful properties of ILs make them ideal for usage in a wide variety of chemical and industrial processes. ionic liquids' impact on chemical reactions, particularly their use as green solvents, catalysts, and material transporters. Utilizing ILs can enhance selectivity, response rates, and operational sustainability while decreasing energy consumption and hazardous waste. Among their many applications are electrochemistry, biomass processing, and catalysis, because to their solubility in both polar and nonpolar substances. Following an overview of ILs' pricing, toxicity, and non-recyclability, the article delves into the ongoing research aimed at discovering solutions to these issues, along with their performance in industrial settings. The article's focus here is on how ionic liquids might help create more efficient and environmentally friendly chemical processes, which could have applications in areas like renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and petrochemicals.
