Economic Legislation and Safguards For Achieving Food Security : A Study in Islamic Agricultural Economics

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyse the economic legislations and safeguards established by Islamic agricultural economics to achieve food security, and to clarify their role in building an economic system capable of promoting the sustainability of agricultural production and the stability of food supplies. The study adopted an inductive approach in examining relevant Islamic legal texts and economic principles, and an analytical approach in interpreting them and identifying their economic implications. This analysis was based on an examination of Islamic legal sources and specialised studies in Islamic economics and food security. The study is  foundational analytical research, aiming to shed light on the legislative and economic underpinnings of food security from an Islamic perspective.

The study concluded that Islamic economics provides a comprehensive legislative framework based on the principles of justice, the protection of wealth, the rational use of resources, the promotion of agricultural production, and the activation of solidarity and spending mechanisms. This provides effective economic safeguards for achieving and sustaining food security. The study contributes to academic discourse by offering an integrated perspective that connects Islamic economic legislation with the dimensions of food security within the framework of Islamic agricultural economics. This contributes to the development of the theoretical foundation of this field. Furthermore, the study emphasises the potential to utilise these economic principles in developing agricultural and food policies and formulating development strategies better equipped to address contemporary food security challenges.
